# API Reference

> Every /v1 endpoint, parameter and response schema.

The Pav API is a read-only REST API. Every endpoint is a `GET` under
`https://api.pav.bio/v1`, takes query parameters, and returns JSON. This
reference is generated from the [OpenAPI spec](/openapi-and-agents).

* Authenticate with a Pav API key: `Authorization: Bearer <api_key>`.
  See [Authentication](/authentication).
* List endpoints return `{ "data": [...], "pagination": {...} }`.
  See [Pagination](/concepts/pagination).
* `q=` runs relevance-ranked search on programs, companies and trials, exact
  name lookup on drugs, and exact-term or substring matching on deals, patents
  and FDA records. See [Search and filters](/concepts/search-and-filters).
* 300 requests per minute per key, across the whole service. Errors share
  one envelope. See [Rate limits and errors](/rate-limits).
