Overview

A drug is one drug product, whatever name each company uses for it: its INN, research codes and brand names. The originator, its partners, licensees and parent all list the same drug, and each of their programs carries the same drug_id. A biosimilar or generic is a separate drug. Questions this dataset answers:

Which companies hold rights to inclisiran, and how far has each taken it?
What is TEV-48574 called now, and who develops it?
Which of Merck’s drugs are shared with a partner?

Every program of a named drug has a drug_id. A program whose company does not name its asset (drug is Undisclosed) has none.

Key fields

Field	Description
`drug_id`	Pav drug id. Stable; an id that was merged into another drug returns that drug.
`name`, `inn`	Display name (the INN when there is one) and the INN.
`kind`	`originator` (the innovator product, whoever lists it), `biosimilar` or `generic`.
`aliases[]`	Every name the drug goes by, each with its `kind`: `inn`, `code`, `brand` or `name`.
`modality`, `modality_subclass`, `modality_formats[]`	The drug’s modality. Every program of the drug has this `modality_norm`.
`highest_phase`	Most advanced phase across all companies’ programs of the drug.
`program_count`	Programs of the drug across companies (one per company, indication and territory).
`companies[]`	Companies with programs of the drug, most advanced first, each with its `program_count` and `highest_phase`.

GET /v1/drugs/{drug_id} adds programs[]: the drug’s programs across companies, as light program rows.

Filters

`q`	A complete drug name, code or brand. Case, spaces, hyphens and trademark signs are ignored; partial names do not match. Repeatable (any may match).	`Leqvio`, `TEV-48574`
`company_id`	Drugs with programs at these companies and, by default, the companies they own (`include_subsidiaries`). Repeatable.	`313`
`multi_company`	Only drugs with programs at more than one company.	`true`
`status`	Which programs count: `active` (default), `inactive`, `discontinued`. Repeatable.	`discontinued`
`limit`, `offset`	Page size (1–500, default 50) and offset.	`limit=100`

Without q, drugs are listed by phase, most advanced first.

Look up a drug by any name

A brand, code or INN returns the same drug with every company that holds it.

A company’s shared drugs

company_id with multi_company=true lists the company’s drugs that other companies also hold: partnered, licensed or co-developed assets.

A brand name is found once one of the drug’s companies uses it. Search the INN or a research code as well when a brand returns nothing.

Programs: filter with drug_id for full program records.
Deals: filter deals with drug_id.
Patents: drugs[] lists FDA-approved products on a family.
